WHO
IS AMANDA LAWFORD?
Born in England in 1951, Amanda began her interest in artistic
endeavors at a very young age. Drawing, painting, puppet making
and wire sculptor to mention a few.
In fact the only thing she did well in in school was Art!
After several office jobs in her early 20's, it became apparent
office work was not for her! The opportunity arose to paint
needlepoint designs through her mother. At the time her mother,
an avid needlepointer, was working for a retail needlepoint
shop in Carmel, California. She suggested since they designed
and painted their own canvases she should try it.
That was in 1975 and she has been at it ever since!
She returned to England in 1985 & 1986 and worked for
the Royal School of Needlework.
Also she has worked for the art departments of a number of
music videos, television productions and feature films.
Her distinctive nationally known line of hand-painted canvases
now includes 3 other artists works besides her own.
Constance Coleman's
wonderful animal portraits came to needlepoint in in 1998,
Martha Murphy's
whimsical creatures from her watercolors in 2001, and Mariko
King's humorous cats in 2006.
She is known especially for her Giant
Santa's, which she pioneered, and her decorative
borders.
Her designs are available through specialty needlework
shops nationwide.
